LINDENHURST – LAKE MICHIGAN WATER GOES LIVE!
2017 Annual Water Quality Report
Lake Michigan Project Overview
The Village of Lindenhurst is facing an uncertain future with regards to its supply of water. The underground aquifers that currently provide water have limited capacity and can be susceptible to impurities and contaminates.
Since 2006, Lindenhurst, along with Lake Villa and Lake County, have joined together to secure Lake Michigan water as a permanent water supply source. The process continues to move forward and we anticipate that the Village of Lindenhurst will transition to Lake Michigan water sometime in late 2017.
Project Updates
Periodically the Village will provide updates on construction activity. To stay up to date on the activity sign up for E-News. Also, updates are available at the following link Project Updates.
Construction of Phase I Internal System improvements to the Lindenhurst water system are being financed by the Clean Water or Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This project consists of Phase I of two Phases of water distribution system improvements that will allow the Village of Lindenhurst to connect to the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency, which will supply the Village with Lake Michigan water. Once complete, it will improve water quality for area residents and businesses in Lindenhurst by providing a long-term, sustainable drinking water supply. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
