The Commissioners of the Lindenhurst Lakes Committee are volunteers
serving in an advisory capacity to the Village. A
commissioner is appointed to represent each of the four Village
lakes. Additional commissioners represent the Village at
Large. The Committee meets bimonthly or as needed to conduct
an open forum for discussion of Lakes Management issues.
It works with the Village Administrator and appointed Trustee to
recommend Good Lakes Management Practices. Activities include
oversight of recreational use of our lakes, fish stocking,
macrophyte control, shoreline stabilization, interaction with state
and local biologists and organizations, e.g. Illinois Departments of Public Health and Natural Resources,. public
education including Earth Day and Lindenfest, and ordinance review
and recommendation. The annual budget is funded by the Village
and the average range is $38,000 - $42,000, the vast majority of
which goes for the annual contract for lakes management and aquatic
weed control.

When
I moved to Lindenhurst in 1991, the "killing"
of Lake Linden so it could be restored had already
begun. To understand why the lake was being so
drastically changed I became involved with the Lakes
Commission as a representative of Lake Linden. Now
I understand a bit more why we do some strange and not
so strange things to our lakes – we want to protect as
well as enhance them so they can be enjoyed for many
diverse activities.
I work at Abbott Laboratories and really enjoy living in
Lindenhurst. The lakes are fascinating - with
careful guidance they will serve us well for a long
time.

I
have liven in Lindenhurst for 18 years. Throughout
my whole life I have lived near a lake. I grew up
on Rainy Lake in Ontario, Canada. I was a member
of the local sportsmen's club which assisted with the
local fisheries and had goals to rehab the natural
shoreline.
I
have enjoyed the lakes of Lindenhurst with my wife,
Kristen, and my two daughters, Michelle (7) and Leah
(4). Clean and productive lakes are important to
the community and to me. I am glad I can now take
and active role in maintaining them.
I am a Seniro Master mechanic at Sessler Ford in
Libertyville and have worked there for 20 years.

My wife, Nancy, and I have lived on Teal Road in
Lindenhurst for fifteen years. We both retired from
Mundelein High School in 1996, where I was a physics
teacher. Since that time, we have been volunteers with
the Lake County Forest Preserve and the Adopt- A-
Highway program.
I am a newly appointed member of the Lakes Commission. I
have a B.S. in Education from Northern Illinois
University and an M.S. in Science Education from Oregon
State University. While serving as a volunteer for the
Lake County Forest Preserve District, I have become
qualified as a certified herbicide operator. Among my
other interests are: sailing, astronomy and
photography.
Nancy and I are currently in the process of restoring
the
Teal Public Access on
Lake Waterford to a natural state, by eliminating
alien plants and replacing them with plants native to
northern Illinois. Our back yard has a prairie garden,
rain garden and woodland wildflower garden, as well as
the standard flower and vegetable gardens

"Lindenhurst has been my family's home since 1997.
Spending time with family and friends, traveling,
hiking, volleyball, and cheering my children on in
various sports keeps me happy and busy in my spare
time. My family enjoys volunteering at school, at the
Lindenhurst Park District, and coaching football,
iceless hockey, and softball. I am proud to be a part
of this community and look forward to serving as
Trustee."
