Police

The Lindenhurst Police Department is comprised of 16 full-time sworn employees. These sworn law enforcement positions include the Chief, 3 Watch Commanders, and 12 full-time Police Officers.  The Village supplements its full-time staffing with four part-time sworn Police Officers. Additionally the Police Department employs a Community & Support Services Coordinator, a part-time Community Service Officer, a Records Assistant, and 3 part-time Records Clerks/Dispatchers.

The Police Department utilizes a fleet of 8 squad cars. Seven of the patrol cars are equipped with mobile computers giving access to state and federal data. A durable, "off road" mountain bicycle is also available for community policing purposes.

Non-emergency dispatching, clerical services and operation of non-emergency telephone lines are performed within the Lindenhurst facility, 68 hours per week by internal staff. This results in a period of 100 hours per week in which the non-emergency telephone lines are forwarded to Antioch Dispatch Center, Lindenhurst's contract service provider for emergency 911 dispatching.

All land line emergency "911" calls are answered directly by the Antioch Dispatch Center. These calls are then dispatched to the Lindenhurst Police personnel by way of the portable radios, in-car mobile data terminals or by telephone when appropriate.

"911" calls made via cellular phones are initially dealt with by the Lake County Sheriff's Office dispatching center, which is located in Libertyville.  After determining the nature of the incident, and the appropriate jurisdiction, the call is routed to the proper dispatch center via the computer aided dispatch system.
